GROWING PLANTS FROM SCRAPS
I was just a boy the first time I planted the root end of a green onion to see if it would grow, I was amazed by the results. I still today find onions growing in the flowerbeds...clearly the work of my Mother-in Law who is almost 90 years old. Since that time in my childhood, I have grown quite a few veggies in the garden that came out of the kitchen after meal prep. I can't ever remember planting those veggies because I needed them for food....more over I wanted to grow them just to grow them, eating them was just a bonus.....for me the real draw was watching them grow. Fast forward to today's world where food shortages caused by supply chain issues, plant closures, and natural disasters ( among other things ) are affecting everyone. Currently, on any given day you will find things that are not available at the grocery store. Maybe chicken, maybe cream cheese, maybe peanut butter....whatever, there ARE shortages.
